Our Greg Norman-designed Sharkbite Course delivers all the demands of our championship 18-hole courses with the flexibility for family play. Five sets of tees deliver a total yardage of just over 2,300 from the back tees and a mere 870 from the junior tee box, putting players of all ages and skill levels in a strong position. To help establish your plan of attack, our golf pros are sharing the challenges you’ll encounter and top tips for winning the day, hole-by-hole:Hole #1The Challenge: Making your way onto a well-defended green with bunkers guarding the front while the back and right sides are sloped into a collection area.Top Tip: Place your tee shot between 70-80 yards short of the green so your approach shot will have enough spin to hold the green. Tee shots placed too close to the green require quite a bit of finesse to stay on the putting surface.Hole #2The Challenge: Staying out of the bunkers.Top Tip: Try to play a tee shot into the middle of the green that will give you a fair putt to any pin location.Hole #3The Challenge: Steering clear of penalty areas right and left.Top Tip: Play a shot to the right center of the fairway, avoiding the left bunker. The approach shot is fairly straightforward – just avoid the bunker guard to the right of the green.Hole #4The Challenge: Eluding the right green-side bunker.Top Tip: Keep your approach shot below the hole as the green tilts quite a bit from left to right.Hole #5The Challenge: Avoiding the left fairway bunker and right tree line.Top Tip: Leave your approach shot about 75 yards from the green so you can hit a medium-full shot that holds the putting surface.Hole #6The Challenge: Staying out of the woods to the left and fairway bunker on the right side of the hole.Top Tip: Play your approach to the center of the green – the short left is guarded by a deep bunker and the right side of the green slopes quite a bit into the rough.Hole #7The Challenge: The toughest Par 3 on the course, you’ll face a long hole guarded by a swamp on the entire left side.Top Tip: Play a shot to the right middle of the green. Anything to the left could be problematic. (If you hit into the swamp, don’t worry. Our Golf Shop is well stocked with premium quality balls.)Hole #8The Challenge: Keeping away from the very large left green-side bunker.Top Tip: Play a shot to the middle of the green. It’s fairly flat, so you should have a reasonable birdie putt from the center.Hole #9The Challenge: Bypassing the penalty area on the entire right side of the hole.Top Tip: Play a tee shot to the left center of the fairway to avoid the penalty area. The approach shot should be aimed at the right center of the green to ensure the ball stays on the putting surface. Day one: hard as rocks, but just 24 hours later… overripe! Here at Lansdowne Resort, we’ll use our perfectly ripe peaches to make salsa, relish and coulis by the gallons plus cobblers or other desserts to serve a few hundred guests. For at-home chefs, I developed a small-batch savory peach turnover recipe for the air fryer to keep the heat out of your kitchen during these long, hot days. They’re a great little indulgence.AIR FRYER PEACH TURNOVERSPreparation and cook time: Approximately 90 minutesYield: 4 generously sized turnoversIngredients5 ripe peaches, stones removed, roughly chopped – skin on or off, the choice is yours4 dates, stones removed, roughly chopped – these will naturally sweeten the filling1 sprig fresh thyme, leaves finely chopped – adds a savory note1 orange, grated zest and juiceFlour for dusting1 box grocery store puff pastry1 egg, beatenFor the topping4 TBSP sugar½ tsp finely chopped fresh thyme leaves½ orange, juice only2 TBSP toasted nuts of your choosing DirectionsMake the FillingPut the peaches, dates, thyme, orange juice and half the zest into a sauté pan over medium/high heat.Cook 10 minutes, stirring a couple of times, until the peaches just start to break down. Set aside to cool, then place in the refrigerator to stop the cooking process. It is easier to handle when the filling is cold.Make the Turnovers & ToppingPreheat the air fryer to 350 degrees F.Once the filling is cool, lightly dust a work surface with flour. Roll out the puff pastry to make a square roughly 34×34 cm/13½x13½ in. Cut this into four equal, smaller squares.Spoon a quarter of the peach filling into a corner of each square. Brush the edges with beaten egg, then bring one corner over to meet the other, creating a triangle shape and covering the filling. Use a fork to press down and seal the edges.Brush each turnover with beaten egg.Air-fry for 10 minutes, then flip over and cook for another 5 minutes. While the turnovers are cooking, you can make the topping. Mix together the sugar, thyme and about 2 teaspoons of the orange juice to make a thick, smooth paste that you can drizzle. When the turnovers are crisp and golden brown and the filling is slightly oozing out, remove from the air fryer.Slightly cool and drizzle the topping mixture over the warm pastries. YUMMY!!!!Helpful TipsI suggest making the filling in advance. It can be stored in the refrigerator until you are ready to use it.Once you finish making the turnovers, place them in the refrigerator for 5 minutes or so to avoid the dough becoming soggy or mushy.Leftover filling can be used for tasty toppings on pancakes, waffles and ice cream.
